Tim McQuaid

CONSULTANT

Barry Sheldon

Barry became a Consultant to the firm on 1st July 2004 after having held the position of Senior Partner for over 24 years, the position previously held by his father and grandfather. Barry was born in Maryborough and lived there until 1979 when he moved to Hervey Bay. Barry was admitted as a Solicitor in 1963 and has practised in Maryborough and Hervey Bay since that date. His time is now evenly divided between our Maryborough and Hervey Bay offices. Barry prefers to practise in the fields of Commercial Law, Wills and Estate work, having forty years experience in those matters.

Barry represented Maryborough in cricket and hockey and was a Queensland hockey representative for a number of years. Barry and his wife, Lynn now live at Urangan where Barry can indulge in his passion for fishing.

Greg Boyle

Greg commenced employment with the firm in 1974 and did his legal training as an Articled Clerk to Barry Sheldon. Greg was admitted as a Solicitor of Queensland in 1980 and was admitted to partnership with the firm in the same year.

Greg was born in Maryborough and has lived his whole life in the City. Greg practises generally in the area of Commercial Law, Estates, Conveyancing and Local Government.

Greg is married to Christine and they have three children in Claire, Justin and Jonathan. Greg has represented Maryborough in many sports including cricket, hockey and rugby league and maintains an active interest in cricket, hockey and golf. He is a Life Member of the Maryborough District Cricket Association and the Brothers/Shamrock Cricket Club and was Secretary of the Maryborough District Cricket Association for over 20 years. Other interests include fishing and horseracing.

Timothy John McQuaid

Tim was admitted as a Solicitor on 1st February 1988 and first commenced practice in Toowoomba. He joined the firm in March 1989 and was admitted into the partnership on 1st July 1990.

Tim practises in various facets of law incorporating Business, Leasing, Companies, Conveyancing, Subdivisions, Unit Developments, Wills, Estates and Aged Care. He is involved in providing legal services to some of Hervey Bay’s largest clubs and organisations. Tim also provides pro bono services for Legacy.

Tim is married to Debbie and they have three sons. Tim participates in numerous activities in Hervey Bay including school, church and sports.

Tim lives in Hervey Bay and believes there is a great future in the Fraser Coast district and that there is not a better place to live.

Alison Geerlings

Alison commenced employment with the firm in February 2004.

Alison grew up on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. She attended the University of New England in Armidale, New South Wales, where she obtained a Bachelor of Laws and also a Bachelor of Commerce. She then moved to Brisbane and attended the Queensland University of Technology where she obtained a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice before being admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in July 2003. Alison practises in the firm’s litigation section and has a particular interest in industrial relations/employment law, criminal law, and family law.

Outside of work, Alison enjoys making the most of the Wide Bay’s beautiful climate by indulging in some sunbaking and beachcombing. She also enjoys gardening, reading, aqua aerobics and taking ‘Sunday drives’ to explore the area.

Bruce Sargent

Bruce is a Solicitor practicing in commercial law and has experience in both multi-national and provincial legal practice.

Bruce’s areas of practice include:-

  • Property including leasing
  • Business
  • Finance
  • Estate Planning

He was formerly principal of a Property Valuation practice and has eight years experience as a Registered Valuer and Property Consultant. During this period Bruce specialized in valuing commercial property including rent reviews, specialist properties and development projects.

Bruce believes that his legal training together with his experience as a valuer and property consultant provides a practical approach to law and greater understanding of property and business issues.
